It may seem a little strange to talk about and review food products on our personal blog, but fast, easy, and cheap meals seem to go hand in hand with new marriages--or just marriages in general?! My mom sent us a coupon last week for these Bertolli frozen meals (great minds must think alike because I clipped it a few Sundays back too!) and the other night at the grocery store, we decided to buy it because we had the coupon AND they were on sale at VONS. It seemed a little too good to be true that we could both eat for $5.99, in 10 minutes, and get 2 servings of vegetables so we decided to try it out last night, in between our 2 loads of laundry.
Here's what we did--read very closely, it's an extremely complicated process:
1. Took the package out of the freezer.
2. Took out a saucepan with a lid.
3. Opened the package and emptied it into the saucepan.
4. Turned the burner on high and covered for 3 minutes.
5. Took cover off, stirred, put lid back on.
6. Let simmer for 7 more minutes.
7. Put the goods on plates.
8. Garnished with fresh basil*
Voila! Dinner is served!
It was really good! This was the mediterranean style meal with chicken, broccoli, red peppers, and rigatoni pasta in a garlic and olive oil sauce. Added bonus = no leftovers we are stuck eating the rest of the week!
*As for the fresh basil, it turns out that I married quite the little green thumb. Aaron bought a bunch of seeds in the $1 bins at Target and he's been so attentive to the marigolds, "sensitive plant", mini sunflowers, and basil he has been growing. And all his work is really paying off!
As I mentioned a few days ago, our friends Sarah and Ryan got engaged over the weekend. We had the chance to catch up yesterday and now that I've heard the full proposal story, here's a photo from their awesome weekend. They're going to be such an adorable bride and groom!
Happy Wednesday, everyone!
"Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life." 1 Timothy 6:17-19
